A Week Between Sisters…

Every year, we look forward to having my sister & sister-in-law join us for a week up at the lake. This year has been such a difficult one…so I was looking forward to their visit that much more.

We always have such a great time when they visit. It never matters what we end up doing…a paddle on the lake, a day exploring in town, or just chilling on the deck listening to music and playing cards or cornhole…we have fun and laugh a lot.

Our group of friends at the lake have been so welcoming and inviting and never seem to mind our family being included…we all seem to have the same crazy sense of humour.

Although I was not able to play, we took a day and went golfing at one of our local cottage country courses. It was our first time at this course so we weren’t sure what to expect. Let me tell you…what an amazing little course! It was beautiful. It’s only a 9-hole course so we just played it twice (well…they played and I drove one of the carts). The fairways were well manicured and the greens were pristine! And did I say it was very reasonably priced? We will definitely be returning in the future…hopefully next time I will be able to actually play.

When I think of cottage country, I instantly think of spending time in and on the water. My sisters and I grew up cottaging and boating and those memories keep drawing me back even to this day.

Aside from one big middle of the night thunderstorm, we had great weather all week and were able to get out in the boat, as well as the kayaks.

There’s nothing like hitting the lake in a kayak on a calm day. I absolutely love our lake for it’s little hidden inlets that are only accessible by kayak or canoe…they truly are little treasures. I love sitting quietly watching a great blue heron fish for it’s dinner or a loon diving under the surface of the water and wondering where it will pop up again. I could sit for hours just watching & listening to the sounds of nature…it’s so peaceful.

The kayakers version of Where’s Waldo!

These weeks we spend together are packed with delicious food, campfires, crazy shenanigans and of course…fun & laughter…and they are always way too short. I already can’t wait for the next time we get to do this.
